I am experienced in all levels of theatrical sound, from design and mixing to setup and operation. My designs often focus on ambiance that is meant to ground actors and audiences in the world being presented and are often inspired by my years’ worth of experience in musical production in Digital Audio Workspaces.

Experience

Scene Shop Carpenter

Berry College, Rome Georgia

Working at Berry’s Scene Shop is an all-encompassing job. Set construction alone covers everything from drafting units to be built to installing units in the space. As a carpenter, I am trusted to do whatever needs to be done, whether it be routing, building, puttying & sanding, paining, cutting, or installing pipes to hang curtains from the tension-wire grid in Sister’s Theatre.

While my official title may be carpenter, I may also be found hanging, focusing, and cabling lights, setting up speakers and com systems, or working the projector when I am needed.

Sound Apprentice

Theatre Aspen, Aspen Colorado

At Theatre Aspen, the sound crew is responsible for setting up both the sound and video systems in the Hurst Theatre, an outdoor tent-like structure located in Aspen’s John Denver Sanctuary. Because technology cannot be stored in the theatre during the off-season, setup involved taking needed equipment from storage, taking inventory, and setting up multiple racks, dozens of speakers, several cameras, and hundreds of feet of cable through recently-installed trusswork.

After a lengthy setup period, the rest of the summer was spent either working mainstage shows, assisting the education program in putting on their performances in the park, or driving patrons to and from the Hurst before and after productions in the company golf cart.

Stagecraft Apprentice

Theatre Aspen, Aspen Colorado

The 2020 season at Theatre Aspen was understandably smaller than anticipated, but the stagecraft crew kept busy by setting up the stage for multiple summer cabarets. This involved quite literally tearing out the old stage and setting up a new one, helping install the truss, and then building sets for the education program. One of these sets, for Beauty and The Beast, was built in only six days through the insane dedication of three apprentices.

Store Associate

UPS Store, Alpharetta Georgia

Working for a UPS store is incredibly customer-driven work. Whatever need they may have, whether it be pricing, packing, printing, or scanning, each employee has the responsibility to find a solution to any problem. This particular store has a knack for receiving massive orders: shipping massive scale wooden barns, sending out hundreds of checks for one company at a time, creating seminar binders by the dozen, or frequently sending packages internationally.

Interests

Since a young age, I have been inspired by and continue to enjoy electronic music, something that brought me into the world of production and sound design before my discovery of my love for theatre. This passion still drives me today as a sort of hobbyist; These talents allowed me to place third in a 2021 mix contest season officially ran by Monstercat (an international record label based in Vancouver, Canada) and HyperX. This season found me making four 10 to 15-minute mixes spanning dozens of genres and using anywhere from 40-70 songs. These mixes, of course, are available to be presented upon request as well, or can be found on major streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

Another passion of mine is analyzing and critiquing digital arts, with a primary emphasis on film and music. I can often be found listening to albums compulsively and have a full Spotify playlist ranking each album (this playlist, by now, spans over 300 albums).
